Why Choose Safe Step Stairlifts
Stairlift Installation Considerations
A Safe Step Stairlift can be installed on the left or right side of the stairs for added convenience. Our design specialist will determine which side is best. Here’s what you need to consider when exploring stairlifts:
The charging system for a Safe Step Stairlift is located at the top of the device. It requires access to a 120-volt outlet at the top of the stairs to ensure proper charging.
Our stairlifts attach directly to the staircase. The track is installed at least 4 inches from the wall or other obstruction to run smoothly, and folds to within 12.5 inches of the wall for convenience when it is not in use. When in operation, the stairlift measures 24 inches from the wall to the footrest. With most residential staircases measuring around 42 inches wide, a stairlift comfortably fits in the majority of homes.
Safe Step Stairlifts are built to fit standard staircases while ensuring comfortable headroom.
For safe and comfortable use of a stairlift, it’s important to keep space clear and uncluttered at both the top and bottom of the staircase. Having room to maneuver ensures stability, reduces the risk of tripping and makes it easier to use mobility aids like canes or walkers.
